Support your community - Adopt a Water Stop!

presented by SCHEELS

We invite local businesses and organizations to make an impact by sponsoring a water stop at the Med City Marathon! This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your business while giving back to the community. Each water stop requires a minimum of 8 volunteers on the morning of the Marathon race, Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Your team’s mission? Keep our runners hydrated and motivated! Groups that have participated in the past have found this experience incredibly fun and rewarding, as they cheer on athletes and play a vital role in their race-day success.

Bonus Opportunity! We also offer fundraising options for local non-profits—reach out to learn more!

The Med City Marathon (MCM) of Rochester, MN is looking for interns!
We have multiple opportunities to immerse yourself in hands on learning. Learn the ropes of what it takes to build and sustain a large community event, while maintain flexible and remote based working opportunities to fit your schedule and needs.

The 28th Annual Med City Marathon race weekend is on May 18-19, hosted in downtown Rochester, MN. Thousands of racers from all over the country will come to Rochester to compete in this Boston Qualifying marathon race weekend. This full marathon race weekend is one of the top racing event weekends in MN, and will need plenty of help to make it a success. The Med City Marathon will work to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald house of Rochester.

The event includes:
Full Marathon
Half Marathon
Marathon Relays
5K race
Kids 1K
Health and Fitness Expo

Interns will be involved in all levels of planning and execution of the race. Preplanning includes local community engagement, marketing, sponsorship ask, route planning, and grass roots promotions. The pre planning is flexible with timing and will give interns opportunities to work remotely on projects.

INTERNS DO NOT NEED TO LIVE IN ROCHESTER. There will be plenty of opportunities for interns to work on projects remotely. We will also set schedules for meeting times and around town projects for interns to participate and assist in planning in Rochester.

Interns will also be expected to be fully engaged and present on marathon race weekend from Thursday through Sunday. (Hotel stay options will be available if needed). Internships will be crafted towards intern needs, expertise, and interests.

Examples of areas we could model an internship around would be:
Marketing and Events Intern
Logistics and Planning Intern
Community Engagement Intern

A stipend will be developed for interns and given post event
– Gas mileage will be covered for any necessary travel as needed
